A Stroll Down Accuracy Lane

I made at least one good decision when I started writing about guns a couple of decades ago. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then, right? I started to keep some basic records about the performance of the guns and ammo that came and went for various stories. I’m mainly talking about the significant stuff, like bullet velocity, basic notes on any performance issues with the guns, and accuracy results.

I do confess to having a compulsion to log more formal shooting, however. When testing new pistols for review, while I don’t count every round fired, I do log the important stuff, including velocity, accuracy, and, when appropriate, gelatin test data.

How to Shoot Tiny Groups

Accuracy. It’s the bane of the range. We read articles about the latest, greatest gob of lead flinger and how it will shoot .0027″ groups from a quarter mile using leftover ammo from the War of 1812. Then we get our hands on one, and, well, the results don’t quite live up to the expectations.
