Percentage of Population with Carry Permits By State

The county I live in, in Ca., hasn’t issued a CCW permit in 31 years. I am a cattle rancher & multiple horse owner, located very close to a real sketchy area, my gate is on a frontage road, running along Hwy 80. There are a few homeless, & some crazy people living there, some live in cars, (a few had been living on our property, we recently learned). We have a lot of drug users, hook ups, & any other types of nefarious things happening there constantly, especially at night. We have people who’ve cut our locks off, or even taken out fence sections, to come in & dump garbage, or refuse, scout for game, & a few times, our horses have been locked in, (or out, without any water).
My mare was recently chased by an intruder on an ATV, until her shoes came off, & her hooves were jagged stumps, by some idiots. Our cattle have also been intentionally let out, just a few weeks ago, next to the busiest Hwy. in Ca., just for “fun”, I guess. I’ve been carrying a handgun for 33 years now, despite my inability to obtain a CCW permit. It’s not by choice, I’d love to apply for, & obtain a CCW permit, if I could. I never see any law enforcement personnel stopping in the area, (unless they’re CHP, just pulling someone over, off the freeway), I am often alone, frequently at night, & when I’m in the barn area, the solid 5’+ fences prevent my being able to see anyone approaching me, nor can I hear them, over all the freeway noise. I know that if I’m ever attacked, I am my only “line of defense”, even though it can be a pain at times. Over the many days in the last 33 years, I’ve only drawn, racked & aimed my weapon once, & if I hadn’t been carrying on that particular day, (despite my not having shot my attempted assailant, who apparently knew that as he heard me racking a round while turning, & charging him, I was ready to empty the clip into him, if he didn’t retreat). Had I not been armed just that one time, I’m certain I wouldn’t be alive, writing this post. Women should really consider taking an aggressive self-defense class, (taking their mothers & daughters with them), where they’ll learn how to defend themselves against real, large men, in order to fine-tune their instincts, learn the best techniques for them, IRL settings, while learning to survey & access a situation very quickly, & becoming efficient in using their “fight not flight” ingrained instincts & reflexes, by getting trained & up to par. Twice, while not carrying, (both at places where I’d worked, & had no place to carry a firearm), I’ve been accosted two separate times, both in parking lots while leaving work, in places you’d never think anyone would attack you. I was able to knock both of the assailants out, luckily, no doubt because they werent expecting a woman to wage an all-out physical assualt against them.
I wish more people really understood that it takes just one random day, & it can be the end, if you’re not prepared! It really is much better to have it, & to never need it, than the other way around!

Are there any correlation studies with CHL percentages and break-in/crime stats? I know the opioid crisis has skewed a lot of crime data recently, but it would still be interesting to see.
