Walking down one of the 12.5 miles of exhibit aisles (yes, that’s a real number) at SHOT Show 2017, I bumped into my friends from Silencer Shop and Griffin Armament. New from them is perhaps the lightest big bore suppressor I’ve yet seen, the Griffin Armament Sportsmand Ultra Light weighs in at just 12.7 ounces. Even though it will handle .338 Lapua, it would make a fantastic general purpose silencer for any .30 caliber rifle owing to its low weight.
The general idea is that you can go lighter if you don’t plan to shoot rapidly, giving the suppressor some time to cool off. For bolt-action use, it looks like a winner. We’re going to get our hands on one in the next couple of months and test it out with both big bores and .30 caliber rifles. Stay tuned.
Got something to say?
