Mid-Range AR Cartridges: .223 Remington, 300 AAC Blackout, and 6.8 Remington SPC

Recently, a friend and I have been discussing “in-between” caliber options for the AR-15 platform. There are a plethora of proven options for close-range shooting with a light to moderate recoil tax. As for the “in-between” solutions that can effectively reach out past 500 yards, but without all the boom and thump of something like as .308 AR-10, what should one consider?

Personally, I’ve had great results with the 300 AAC Blackout in suppressed builds, especially for hunting hogs at shorter ranges. But when stretching past 500 yards, the .223 Remington (https://gunsnprices.com/ammo/aguila-223-ammo) or 6.8 SPC really shine.
