A man, probably not much different than you or me, was shopping at a Walmart store when a gunman burst through the front doors, firing a shot and yelling something about a revolution.

Being a Good Samaritan type by nature, he elected to put a stop to the madness and confronted the man.

Moments later, he was dead.

Concealed carry seems so straightforward, doesn’t it? Make the decision to protect yourself, get a gun, figure out how to carry it, and hit the range a few times to practice, and you’re good to go. At least, that’s how most people approach the process.

This is the scary thing about concealed carry. The preparatory actions most armed citizens take won’t amount to much if and when the time comes for decisive action during a lethal encounter.

As for that well-intentioned citizen who was tragically killed? He wasn’t fully prepared to handle two curveballs thrown his way. First, few of us are really primed and ready for an active shooting to erupt while we’re out shopping for groceries. Second, the plot twist he never expected was the gunman’s female accomplice, trailing from a distance, who shot him in the chest. As it turns out, the pair, working together, had just killed two police officers at a CiCi’s Pizza next door and taken the officers’ weapons.

This story isn’t unique. In The Practical Guide to Concealed Carry, I share numerous other self-defense encounter case studies along with lessons we can use to better protect ourselves and our families.

No book, video or training program can guarantee successful outcomes, but there’s no doubt preparation increases your odds of surviving a defensive incident.

That’s why I wrote The Practical Guide to Concealed Carry.

The world is and has always been, a dangerous place.

Good planning leads to success, and the best way to start your planning journey is to embrace reality ruthlessly.

If you don’t learn how to live a “switched-on” lifestyle, you’ll become a prime target. Here’s how to become a far less desirable target—in a good way.

The Practical Guide to Concealed Carry will propel you into the “planning and preparation” lifestyle.

It will also educate and prepare you to spot potential danger early, evaluate and select the right guns and gear, including less-lethal options, and begin transitioning from “range” to “defensive” shooting.
