We’ve learned that people tend to get really bent out of shape about the use of water boarding torture – especially terrorists.

But what about Dot Torture?

Dot Torture is an ancient warrior preparation ritual designed to inspire a false sense of security, aggravation and snarky comments at the range.

If I had to pick one practice routine, it would probably be the Dot Torture exercise.

As far as I can tell, this drill was designed by David Blinder at Personal Defense Training and modified by Todd Louis Green at Pistol Training What I like most about this drill is that it exercises a wide variety of handgun skills with one 50 round box of ammunition.

The drill has you do slow and accurate fire, rapid single shots from a draw, multiple shots from a draw, single hand shots with each hand and even reloads. And the whole 50 round string of fire is scored so you can track your progress over time.

Oh, about that snarky comments at the range thing? Dot Torture is designed to be run at close range, maybe three to five yards. So those range commandos are likely to make comments like “you can only hit targets that close?” Ignore them. This is a great drill and a lot harder than it looks.

Visit Pistol Training to print the targets on standard notebook paper. Detailed instructions are on the target itself.
