I ran across Hoppe’s Gun Medic at last year’s SHOT Show. Since that time, I’ve kept a can in my range bag to test it out. How often do I use it? Just about every trip. Here’s why.
The idea behind this product is “field expedient cleaning and lubrication.” If you’re out shooting, and a gun starts to misbehave from a little too much gunk and funk, spray this stuff on dirty looking parts and resume shooting. It’s a combination cleaner and lubricant, but unlike stuff optimized for workshop use, the cleaner is designed to evaporate away quickly after dislodging the filth, leaving behind a “dry” lubricant coating. When I use it at the range, I rarely if ever take the gun apart. For pistols, I just give a quick spray in the ejection port. For AR rifles, I spray it into the bolt carrier area through the ejection port and cycle the action a couple of times.
It’s a lifesaver, check it out. You can find it on Amazon if it’s not in your local gun store.
