Crimson Trace Founder Lew Danielson
(Wilsonville, OR)—Lewis Danielson, the Founder of Wilsonville, Oregon’s Crimson Trace Corporation®, has received The SHOT Business Person of the Year Award. The prestigious industry recognition noted that Danielson was instrumental in inventing a cutting-edge product category, and then promoting laser sights and their many benefits. Today, Crimson Trace laser sights are recognized as standard equipment on numerous self-defense firearms and the company has nearly 3 million customers.

Danielson was a leading founder of Crimson Trace, which began in the backroom of an Oregon machine shop he managed in 1994. Numerous news articles have reported on his rules of success and the steps he followed—a simple 18-point business plan that was handwritten on a piece of yellow legal pad paper. The first Crimson Trace laser sights were designed for Glock® handguns—and the owner had to send the pistol to Oregon for machining and installation. In keeping with Crimson Trace’s top-rated customer service pledge and Danielson’s principles on superior customer service, those original laser sights are still serviced by the company today.
Danielson, a trained engineer, was inducted into the Oregon State University Engineering Hall of Fame in 2013. Many of the patents in the Crimson Trace portfolio bear his name.
