Buyers Guide: Crimson Trace Green Laserguard for Glock LG-452

My Gun Culture Shooting Buyers Guide

We reviewed one of the first pre-production Crimson Trace Green Laserguards for Glocks (LG-452) a couple of months ago and found it, well, awesome.

What’s the big deal?

This. Green lasers are highly visible. Day, night, dusk, twilight, bright sunlight – you name it. We found that you can use the Crimson Trace Green Laserguard in sunny conditions with no problem. We tested it an outdoor shooting range in full sunlight and found the green laser dot easy to spot at 25 yards.

What’s really impressive is the visibility in “traditional” laser conditions, i.e. indoors or in low light. The speed at which your eye picks up the green laser in comparison to the red is simply amazing. The green dot really jumps out at you.

Green lasers drain suck power like Rosie O’Donnell consumes donuts, so for now, the Crimson Trace Green lasers are available in Laserguard configurations as there is more space for battery. Also, be aware that you’ll get about 2 hours of constant use. This is plenty considering the unit as a manual on/off switch to save juice when you’re just practicing.

Like other Crimson Trace Laserguards, this one uses an instinctive activation button. Just pick up the gun and it’s on.

Buyers Guide: Crimson Trace Lightguard for 1911 LTG-701

My Gun Culture Shooting Buyers Guide

Although not invented by the late John Moses Browning, may he rest in peace, the Crimson Trace Lightguard for 1911′s was invented by the Association of Optics Genii – that’s plural for more than one genius by the way. Or so we’re claiming.

Springfield Armory TRP 1911 with Crimson Trace Lightguard for 1911

The Crimson Trace Lightguard for 1911 LTG-701 mounted on a Springfield Armory TRP

When we did a full review of the Crimson Trace Lightguard for 1911′s we found that it does a wonderful job of complementing 1911 handguns that are not equipped with a tactical rail. As 1911 dimensions vary a bit from model to model, Crimson Trace has engineered this piece of equipment to fit the following 1911 models: Kimber, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson – either full size or compact. Since we had a Springfield Armory TRP in for review, we tried the Lightguard on that one as well and found it to fit perfectly.

This accessory adds 100 lumens of bright light to your rail-less 1911 without bulk or duct tape as it leverages the trigger guard for support. The unit features an instinctive activation pressure switch so it’s on when you are. A positive on/off switch allows for daylight practice without battery drain.

This is a well designed, and very handy add on, for your 1911. Highly recommended.

Buyers Guide: Crimson Trace Lightguard for Glock Pistols

DSC_0026Here’s one of our new favorite gun toys…

The Crimson Trace Lightguard for Full Size and Compact Glock pistols turns your Glock into arguably the ultimate nightstand gun. Small, unobtrusive, and light, the Lightguard blends perfectly into the gun’s frame – even to the point of exact color and texture matching.

However small, it sports a jumbo size beam of light – 100 lumens for about 2 hours on a single CR2 Lithium battery. We paired ours with the new Crimson Trace LG-850 Lasergrips for Glock and the combination worked beautifully. Simply picking up your gun activates the rear switch the laser and the front-of-grip switch for the light.

Nice and simple.

Buyers Guide: Aimpoint Micro H-1 Red Dot Sight

My Gun Culture Shooting Buyers Guide

IMG_1277This is a fantastic red dot. One of our favorites.

In our recent in-depth review we used it on a DPMS A3 Lite and found it stellar. Battery life is 75% of forever so you don’t have to worry about turning the unit and and off. That’s great if it’s a self-defense gun.

When paired with the Micro LRP Mount, you can remove and remount the sight without loss of zero. We tested this and it worked as advertised.

This is a lightweight and very tough optic. The attention to detail in the optic and its accessories is icing on the cake.

Well worth the money.

Buyers Guide: Crimson Trace Lasergrips For Glock Full Size and Compact Models

My Gun Culture Shooting Buyers Guide

DSC_0012 (1)In our review of the Crimson Trace LG-417 Lasergrips we found these to be a 4 Nun product.

Super easy to install and use. Like most other Crimson Trace Lasergrip products, this model features instinctive activation – meaning grab your gun and the laser turns on. In this case, the activation switch is on the front of the grip.

Although simple to install, be sure to check the instructions carefully. Crimson Trace includes two mounting clamps to account for slight variations in frame shape on various Generation 3 models. If you use the wrong clamp, you might have some trouble with the laser holding a stable zero.

Buyers Guide: TruGlo TFO Fiber Optic / Tritium Handgun Sights

My Gun Culture Shooting Buyers Guide

TG131GT1This is hands down the best set of handgun sights that we’ve ever tried.

The TruGlo TFO sights are intended to work equally well in light and dark conditions. Fiber optic channels on both front and rear sights allow lots of light in from the top that make these sights literally glow in daylight conditions.

Tritium lamps are placed at the ends of the fiber optic tubes and provide light through the tubes when ambient light is not available.

Available in all green or green front / yellow rear combinations, these sights literally jump into your field of view – either day or night.

We highly recommend them.
